Back in July, we were given the opportunity we thought we would never receive, and were able to report on the fact that Kid Rock is making a run for the US Senate. Now, the American Bad Ass has delivered his very first campaign speech of sorts, and it’s exactly what you expected.
As Consequence Of Sound reports, Kid Rock took to the stage in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Wednesday night to perform a gig, and opened the proceedings with a very real-sounding campaign speech.
Introduced as “The next senator of the great state of Michigan; Kid motherfucking Rock,” Rock took the stage to the tune of ‘Hail To The Chief’, and began his rather cringe-inducing address.
“It seems the government wants to give everyone health insurance, but wants us all to pay. And to be very frank, I really don’t have a problem with that, since God has blessed me and made my pockets fat,” Kid Rock began. “But a redistribution of wealth seems more like their plan, and I don’t believe that you should say, ‘Sacrifice, do things by the book, and then have to take care of some deadbeat milking the system, lazy ass, motherfucking man.'”
“Now, the issue of struggling single parents is an issue close to my heart,” he continued. “But read my lips, we should not support these women who can’t even take care of themselves, but keep having kid after fucking kid! Of course we should help them out, I don’t want to sit here and sound like a jerk. But let’s help them out with child care, job training, and put their goddamn asses to work.”
Kid Rock’s discourse just kept building steam from there, with the musician targeted deadbeat dads, ghetto glorifiers, gangster wannabes, Nazis, the KKK, and of course, Hilary Clinton, in a rant that, at times, sounds as though it could very well be his next single.
“So please almighty Jesus, if you’re looking down tonight, please guide us with your wisdom and give us strength to fight. To fight the tyrant evils that lurk here and abroad, and remind us all that we are still just one nation under God.”
Despite seeming somewhat unfocused at points, Kid Rock’s speech was met with uproarious applause from the countless musical and political fans in the audience. However, while many musical sources have claimed Kid Rock’s speech to be a legitimate political address, it’s not known how much of this was intended as serious, considering that this was delivered as the introduction to his concert.
Having hinted at this political run since at least February, Kid Rock (or Robert Richie as he’s known formally) closed his speech by making references to a potential presidential bid. As Consequence Of Sound reported though, Kid Rock hasn’t actually filed the proper paperwork for this senatorial bid, thus he may be in the sights of federal law enforcement if he continues to actually promoting himself as a Senate hopeful. Maybe giving speeches at concerts is his way of finding a way around this law?
So while Kid Rock might have the oratorial skills that have seen him sell millions of records and earn five Grammy awards, there’s every chance that this current Senate bid may be brought down by the very bureaucracy that he intends to clean up. Only time will tell if Rock will actually be successful in his bid for the US Senate, but at this stage, it seems that anything is possible.
