Neil Young and Crazy Horse have announced their first return to the stage since 2014, with the legendary rock act set to play two upcoming shows in Fresno, California.

The reunion was announced via Neil Young’s website in which he revealed that the band would be performing live without rehearsal first. “First time in a long time, live on stage. No rehearsal” said Young in a post on Neil Young Archives.

It was also announced that the band’s lineup will consist of longtime Crazy Horse members, bassist Billy Talbot, drummer Ralph Molina, and guitarist Nils Lofgren formerly of the E Street Band. Lofgren also accompanied Young on a few of his solo efforts including After The Goldrush, Tonights The Night and Trans.

This marks the first time the band will perform without original guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro for the first time since he joined the band in 1975.

“Life is an unfolding saga,” Young wrote. “A few months ago we started talking about playing some remote clubs and getting our feet wet again.” He added, “Come and see us if you can as we approach our 50th year as a band. I think it will be the beginning of another beautiful chapter in our long, enriching and life-changing Crazy Horse story.”

Lofgren tweeted his excitement to be joining the act on the upcoming dates saying that he was “beyond honoured.”

Young recently opened up to Rolling Stone, calling out what he describes as “bullshit” farewell tours.

“When I retire, people will know, because I’ll be dead,” he said. Later, he elaborates, “I’m not gonna say, ‘I’m not coming back.’ What kind of bullshit is that? I could go out and play if I felt like it, but I don’t feel like it.”

“I’ve got a great band. I’ve got two great bands – I’ve got Promise of the Real and Crazy Horse. They’re both great bands and they’re different. But they both can play a lot of shit.”
