Robbie Williams has offered his insight into the future of iconic Britpop band Oasis, noting that the group will “need to” reform because of the Gallagher brothers’ supposedly declining solo careers.
Back in August of 2009, Oasis split up after a rather predictable backstage fight between Liam and Noel Gallagher. Since then, the famously-warring brothers have embarked on solo careers, with Noel going on to form Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and Liam Gallagher performing with Beady Eye, and now under his own name.
Since the group’s split though, there’s been a perpetual “will they, won’t they” question at play as fans wonder if the group will ever reform. In fact, just last week, Liam Gallagher offered the proverbial olive branch to Noel, saying that he “forgives” him, and asking for an Oasis reunion.
“I forgive you now let’s get the BIG O back together and stop fucking about the drinks are on me,” wrote Liam on Twitter, explaining that he’s “not desperate” but that he just thinks “it’d be a nice thing to do.”

Now, one of the group’s biggest rivals, Robbie Williams, has theorised that an Oasis reunion is inevitable, and will only come about once the cash from the Gallaghers’ respective solo careers runs out.
“Liam Gallagher has just come back and he’s done pretty well,” said Williams to The Sun. “He had a platinum record with his solo album and I think that’s what everybody was waiting for. I think the next time he releases an album it won’t do as well.”
“Noel’s album didn’t do too good either. I think it sold like 70,000 copies or something, which for Noel isn’t great.”
“If they’re anything like me, which I think they are, they will want to be doing the most successful thing they can do, and the most successful thing they can do is a reunion. I think they’ll both need to do it.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Robbie Williams has had something to say about the Gallagher brothers, with the former Take That singer having had a long, unfriendly relationship with the pair over the years.
While Williams once challenged Liam Gallagher to a fight at the Brit Awards in 2000, recent years saw Liam refer to Williams as “a fat fucking idiot”, while Noel called him the “fat dancer from Take That”.
Needless to say, only time will tell if Oasis do eventually reform, but if they do, we won’t be complaining.
