Perth’s Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have been on the scene for a while now, capturing the imagination of music fans both here and abroad with their brilliant psych-rock sound. From touring with the likes of Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves, to getting airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, and Radio X, the group are undoubtedly set to become one of Australia’s next big musical exports.

With the group heading to BIGSOUND next month before they head out on a national tour, they’ve just found time in their busy schedules to released the awesome ‘Social Candy’. To celebrate the release of this new track, the band decided to open up, telling up four things you didn’t know about them.

4 things you didn’t know about Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

1) Luke Reynolds (Bass) is a classically-trained soprano, although the only time we’ve heard him sing was when he found his falsetto around 3am in a pokies a few Melbourne trips ago, we had to save him from some angry locals wielding pool cues.

2) Danny Caddy’s (Drums) brother Ben (Strings) used to play in the United Nations Symphony Orchestra. He recently performed for Prince Charles in Buckingham Palace with three other bowmen. Doubt they played ‘Gurzle’ but he’s still a hero.

3) Luke Parish (Guitar) is a sponsored skater for Soggy Bones. He also used to perform in surf comps back in his prime grom days, hence the long blonde hair and the ability to throw a mean shakka. The last trick I saw him do was vanish a carton last Monday.

4) Jack McEwan (Vocals, Guitar) was producing Indian-infused Raga beats before starting Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. “I was a full time Maschine enthusiast and had given up on the ambition of playing guitar in a band as all my friends at the time were into French electro,” he explains.

“Then one night I stumbled into a Red Engine Caves gig and was reinspired.” Cal Kramer who fronts The Southern River Band used to play drums for Red Engine Caves so it’s even more a privilege to be having them join the ‘Social Candy’ tour with us.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ ‘Social Candy’ is out now, be sure to catch them when they head out on tour next month.
