An emotional message on Nai Palm’s Instagram yesterday confirmed the Hiatus Kayote singer has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Read the full post below.
Naomi “Nai Palm” Saalfield shared the statement asking fans to respect her and her family’s space whilst she fights the illness. “I say this to you hoping that you won’t expect soo much of me all the time. I am a strong mother fucker but I feel everything deeply.” the Melbourne singer begins the statement.
“I need to be selfish in this time. I cannot babysit anyone’s emotions anymore. Let my music comfort you, this is what it’s for. My job ends there I am not a therapist.” it continues. This year the artist has been touring as a solo artist as well as with Hiatus Kaiyote recently shared a picture of the band on Instagram, explaining she was going through a “breast cancer scare”.
The group released their sophomore album Choose Your Weapon in 2015 and last year saw the release of Nai Palm’s debut solo album Needle Paw. She also contributed vocals to “Is There More” off Drake’s 2018 album Scorpion, his More Life mixtape also saw a sample from the band being featured.
