Josh Fauver, the longtime bassist of Deerhunter has passed away, age 39. The band confirmed this through an Instagram post featuring a picture of Fauver, captioned “Very difficult times now”.

Fauver joined Deerhunter in 2004, following the passing of the bands original bassist Justin Bosworth.  Fauver featured on Deerhunter’s debut self-titled album (2004), Cryptograms (2007), the Fluorescent Grey EP (2007), Weird Era and Microcastle (2008), Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP (2009), and Halcyon Digest (2010). Fauver left the band in 2012.

Sephamore Management shared a heartfelt post on Instagram addressing Fauver’s passing, writing “On Friday, we lost one of the most important people in both of our lives. Josh was not only a phenomenally gifted musician, he was also one of the most compassionate people we have ever known.”
