London’s Alexandra Palace has denied that inadequate security is to blame for the death of a Bring Me The Horizon fan at the group’s recent concert.

Yesterday, we reported on the tragic news that a young fan had lost their life while attending Bring Me The Horizon’s London concert on Friday night.

Taking to Twitter yesterday morning, Bring Me The Horizon responded to the incident, explaining that they were “horrified” after learning of the fan’s death.

“Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones at this terrible time,” they continued, noting a further statement was incoming.

While London’s Alexandra Palace also expressed their sorrow at the incident, the venue quickly became the target of a number of messages on social media, criticising a supposed lack of security at the show.

In a recent statement to The Independent, a spokesperson for the Alexandra Palace refuted these claims, explaining that the fan’s death was due to a medical issue, and was unrelated to the security present.

“Following the statement made last night, we would like to clarify that this was a tragic medical incident and unrelated to the extensive security measures in place at all of or our events,” the spokesperson explained. “However, we feel we must address the inaccurate information quoted on social media.”

“There were over 150 security personnel on site for the concert.”

“Alexandra Palace has an experienced events team with security and full medical team stationed throughout the site,” they concluded.

“We work closely with our local authority, licensing and the emergency services to ensure that regulations and requirements relating to the planning of an event are always executed to a high standard.”

Bring Me The Horizon are currently on a touring break until the new year, which will also see them visit Australia in support of their soon-to-be-released album, amo.
