Kanye West might be considered one of the most divisive artists of the 21st century, but its looking like he might want to start working with one of the most lauded musicians of the 20th century; Bob Dylan.

Over the years, Kanye West has worked with quite a large number of musicians. Having kicked off his career as a producer of Jay-Z’s The Blueprint, Kanye quickly branched out, going solo and working with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, Rihanna, and even Paul McCartney.

In fact, Paul McCartney opened up earlier this year about his time in the studio with Kanye, noting that the hip-hop icon has an unconventional approach to writing.

“I was tootling around on guitar, and Kanye spent a lot of time just looking at pictures of Kim on his computer,” McCartney explained. “I’m thinking, are we ever gonna get around to writing?! But it turns out he was writing. That’s his muse.”

“He was listening to this riff I was doing and obviously he knew in his mind that he could use that, so he took it, sped it up and then somehow he got Rihanna to sing on it. She’s a big favourite of mine anyway, so that just came without me lifting a finger.”

Now, it seems like Kanye West is seeking out a Bob Dylan collaboration.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, Kanye shared out a simple Tweet. “Calling out to Bob Dylan,” he wrote. “Let’s get together.”

Of course, while there was no follow-up or explanation as to why Kanye wants to meet up with the music legend, fans are starting to assume that a collaboration might be on his mind.

Oddly, Twitter seems to be a rather strange place to try and set up meeting, mainly due to the fact that Bob Dylan’s Twitter account seems to be run by his management, and the fact that Kanye didn’t even tag him in. So if you’re hoping to see such a collaboration take place, you might want to hope that Kanye’s team are doing some work behind the scenes.

As it stands, Kanye West is reportedly working on his upcoming album, Yandhi. Initially set to be released back in September, the rapper soon revealed he was heading to Africa to finish recording it. While November 23rd was slated as the next release date, Kanye soon revealed the record was being pushed back indefinitely.

“After performing again, I realize the new album I’ve been working on isn’t ready yet,” West wrote on Twitter. “I’ll announce the release date once it’s done. Thank you for understanding.”

At this stage, there’s no word whether or not the Nobel Prize-winning Bob Dylan will be teaming up with the divisive Kanye West, but you have to admit, no matter what your opinion is of their music, it would definitely go down as one of the most intriguing creations we’ve heard for some time.
