It turns out that some of music’s biggest names have formed a secretive supergroup, with members of Metallica, Foo Fighters, and Iron Maiden getting involved.
Over the years, there have been plenty of amazing supergroups. With famous musicians joining other famous musicians, the result is usually amazing, and groups like The Traveling Wilburys, Them Crooked Vultures, Prophets of Rage, Atoms for Peace, and A Perfect Circle a testament to this fact.
However, have you ever wondered about the supergroups we don’t know about? What about all those collaborative efforts that we never heard about or, for some reason or other, never got off the ground?
Well, now it sounds like we’ve just heard about a pretty amazing one.
Taking to Instagram recently, Alcatrazz guitarist Howie Simon shared an image of his bandmates, only to reveal they’re actually some pretty high profile musicians.
“Sometimes at parties I jam with the bass player from Metallica, the drummer from the Foo Fighters, the guitarist from Iron Maiden, and my friend Richie,” Simon revealed.
“I hope I’m not name dropping! Such a fun time – they always throw the best parties!”
Indeed, the image that Howie Simon shared shows Metallica’s Rob Trujillo, Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith, the Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins, and Richie Kotzen, who has played with acts such as Poison, Mr. Big, and The Winery Dogs.
While Simon explained that the band only perform sporadically at parties, he’s definitely managed to make a lot of eager music fans hungry for more information about the group. Namely, where do they play, how can we see them, and will they ever record any music?
While all of the supergroup’s respective bands are quite busy, it seems like organising such a supergroup could be a rather monumental task. So while we might not be expecting to hear any recorded music from them any time soon, we’ll just keep being jealous at the luck folks who get to see this talented group of musicians.
