Rammstein’s new album might be a couple of months away, but the band are already working on a new music video, releasing some behind-the-scenes photos recently.

Over the last couple of years, we’ve been hearing an endless stream of news about the status of Rammstein’s new record. While the group recently revealed the mixing process began in December, they’ve also been planning a “three year world tour” in support of the album’s April release.

However, another piece of news that we received was that the band were aiming to accompany the new record with around five music videos, indicating that the new release will be as much of a visual spectacle as their live shows.

Now, it seems that the band’s new video is set to feature a bit of a religious theme, with the group sharing teasers on Instagram recently.

In a post shared on Instagram overnight, the German rockers shared some images from the production of their new clip.

Captioned by the phrase “no fire, but nuns”, the images showed a pair of actresses dressed as nuns, as well as a collection of religious paraphernalia.

However, the most exciting aspect of the post was the last picture, which depicted a clapperboard indicating that the video’s director is Jonas Åkerlund.

First kicking off his career over three decades ago, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund has become rather famous for his iconic music videos, working with artists such as Metallica, Paul McCartney, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, The Rolling Stones, and Blink-182.

In fact, Åkerlund’s video for Madonna’s ‘Ray Of Light’ scored him a Grammy award and an astonishing six trophies at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.

Rammstein have also been involved with Åkerlund previously, with the director taking the helm for their ‘Mann Gegen Mann’, ‘Pussy’, ‘Ich Tu Dir Weh’, and ‘Mein Land’ videos, as well as their Rammstein: Paris concert film.

In a recent interview with guitarist Richard Kruspe, the rocker explained that he felt like Rammstein’s live shows were overshadowing their music, indicating the band might be wanting their music videos to go in something of a different direction than previously.

“I felt, like, ‘What would interest me on a new Rammstein record?’ I thought, ‘Every time people talk Rammstein, it’s about fire. It’s all about the show,’” Kruspe explained. “Nobody talks about the music anymore for Rammstein, and it kind of bothered me.”

“I was thinking, ‘I want to do another record. It has to be musical in a way that can really stand out from other records.’ That was my goal, or our goal.”

While we’ve got no idea what the new clip will look like, or when it will arrive, it’s clear that Rammstein are once again aiming to stand out from the crowd as they always have.
