Fresh off the back of their Hottest 100 victory, Sydney’s indie-psych kings Ocean Alley are back with a brand spanking new tune, ‘Stained Glass’. The track sees the band delve deep into their sun-drenched, blissed-out sound in an epic ode to the end of summer.

It’s an ethereal ditty that shows off exactly what Ocean Alley do best – encompasses a vibe entirely and roll with it until every crevice of your body is ravaged with a groove.

‘Stained Glass’ is the first taste of new music from Ocean Alley since their triumphant 2018 release, Chiaroscuro, recorded at the Grove Studios with longtime collaborator Callum Howell.

“Stained Glass is the first song we have written since the release of Chiaroscuro and began, as most of our songs do, with a chord and vocal idea for a verse that Baden envisioned. We recorded and mixed the track at the Grove Studios with our producer Callum Howell over two sessions with a focus on guitar tone and interwoven guitar parts – as has always been a staple in our production.

In the early writing stages we realised it was a great platform to explore guitar production in its entirety and with the help of newly acquired equipment and instruments we were able to create a spacious arrangement using interjecting guitar parts and organ sounds to embellish the rhythmic guitar strumming.”

Ocean Alley will spend the first half of this year on tour with Tash Sultana, warming up crows at her sold-out Flow State national tour.

The band will also show their support the Don’t Kill Live Music rally in Sydney today, alongside The Rubens, Julien Hamilton of The Presets, Dave Faulkner of Hoodoo Gurus, Yumi Stynes, Murray Cook of The Wiggles and heaps more.
