Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes has issued a positive update on his voice, just weeks out from their Australian tour.
Back in February, Bring Me The Horizon announced that they were forced to cancel the remainder of their American tour due to frontman Oli Sykes rupturing his vocal cord.
“I’ve ruptured my right vocal chord [sic], and I’ve been told if I don’t rest it immediately I’m in serious danger of doing permanent damage,” Sykes explained on Twitter last month.
“I’ve been trying my best to fulfil our commitments as I really really hate letting you guys down, not to mention these shows have been literally the most fun ever- but at this point me singing would be the equivalent of a footballer running on a broken leg.”
While this was undoubtedly awful news for the powerful singer, Bring Me The Horizon’s Australian fanbase also became a bit worried too, with the band’s visit to our shores set to take place at the beginning of April.
Thankfully, things looked a bit more positive when Trophy Eyes, You Me At Six, and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes were announced as the support acts for the upcoming tour. Now, we’ve received the good news we were all waiting for.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, Oli Sykes revealed to his fans that his recent visit to the doctor’s had seen him given a clean bill of vocal health, meaning that he and the rest of the band can once again hit the road.
In related news, Tone Deaf recently caught up with Bring Me The Horizon’s Jordan Fish to discuss a number of topics, including their evolution as a band and their changed sound for their most recent album.
“That’s The Spirit for us was our mainstream breakthrough album. It was a rock album,” Fish explained. “I suppose we really didn’t feel like we needed to make another album with ten big-rock songs. Maybe that shaped the approach slightly.”
“I guess also we’re more confident and didn’t feel like we needed to prove as much because the last album did quite well and was successful for us in our own way. That allowed us to feel a little bit freer to experiment and filter in more of the things that we’re influenced by.”
