David Byrne, Trent Reznor, & more to induct artists at Rock Hall ceremony

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the speakers who will help induct their class of 2019 later this month.

Last year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the artists which would be inducted as part of their 2019 induction ceremony.

Taking place in just over two weeks, we’re set to see The Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, Radiohead, Roxy Music, and The Zombies all welcomed into the famed hall, while Stevie Nicks will make her second entry.

Now, organisers have revealed which artists will be on hand to induct these iconic performers during the ceremony.

As Pitchfork have noted, a mixture of musical legends and up-and-coming superstars are set to appear the induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio on March 29th.

While the likes of One Direction’s Harry Styles will induct Stevie Nicks, Janelle Monáe will speak about Janet Jackson, as Duran Duran’s John Taylor and Simon Le Bon induct Roxy Music.

Meanwhile, Queen’s Brian May will present Def Leppard with their honour, and the Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs induct the Zombies.

Notably, David Byrne will induct Radiohead, 28 years after the band adopted their name from Talking Heads’ ‘Radio Head’, while Trent Reznor will be on hand to induct The Cure, a group he cited as a major influence on Nine Inch Nails.

Interestingly though, Trent Reznor’s appearances comes just months after the iconic musician spoke out against the idea of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, noting he “couldn’t give less of a shit” if his band received the honour.

“I saw somebody write something online or comment on Twitter like, ‘What could be less rock and roll than the fuckin’ Hall Of Fame?’ And that is authentically how I feel about it,” Reznor wrote. “I’ll say this: It’s nice to be appreciated. It’s nicer when it feels like that’s coming from a place that you care about.”

Similarly, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke recently explained he won’t be able to attend the induction ceremony due to other commitments.

Of the presenters who will appear at the ceremony, only Talking Heads’ David Byrne and Queen’s Brian May have previously been inducted for their work.

Meanwhile, Nine Inch Nails has previously been nominated without success, The Bangles and Duran Duran are yet to be nominated, while Janelle Monáe and One Direction’s Harry Styles still have a few years to go before becoming eligible.

The 34th Annual Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set to take place on March 29th in Cleveland, Ohio.
