I don’t think there’s a phrase in the English language I have typed more than “Tool are teasing something.”
Tool are teasing something. Eight hours ago, the band changed their cover image on Facebook. The image in question is an amendment of their logo with the roman numeral MMXIX written above.
MMXIX translates to “2019”. So unless the band are just reaffirming fans that they exist, in the year 2019, we’re taking this as confirmation that they’re sticking to their promise of releasing an album this year.

The release date for the forthcoming record has had many false starts. There have been continous updates, with the release dates being changed constantly and promises not being delivered upon.
The most clarity fans have received thus far came from Maynard James Keenan in February. Who announced that the band were midway through recording, and were anticipating releasing the record “somewhere between Mid May and Mid July.” I think it’s safe to assume that Tool fans will have their hands on a brand new record in mere months.
Update- Midway through mixing. Most likely be a few recalls. Then some arguing. Then Mastering, Artwork, Video, Special Packaging, etc. Best Ballpark Guess- Release date somewhere between Mid May and Mid July. More focused updates to follow as we progress. @tool #simplemath pic.twitter.com/o6T4AloLtB

The forthcoming fifth record will be the bands first in thirteen years, following 2006’s record 10,000 days.
It would certainly make sense for the band to release an album this year, considering their amped-up touring schedule. Check out the bands upcoming tour dates below.
