Adele has penned a lengthy post on social media, addressing the recent challenges in her life, along with the “fucking savages” hounding her for a new break-up record.
Ever since Adele released her debut record 19 back in 2008, the English singer has been well-known for her powerful tunes that address themes of love, loss, and a number of relatable topics.
As the years went by, tracks like ‘Rolling In The Deep’, ‘Someone Like You’, and ‘Hello’ saw lyrics that seemed to address failed relationships seeping into her music, with countless fans turning to her music in commiseration following their own break-ups.
Back in April though, Adele announced that she and husband Simon Konecki had split after eight years together. With this news out in the world, social media went wild, joking that her next record will be one of the best break-up records ever, before Adele herself even got in on the action.
However, taking to Instagram earlier today, the iconic musician celebrated her 31st birthday by looking back on the year that was and shutting down everyone hoping for an emotional new album.
“30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all,” Adele wrote on social media. “No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times.”
“I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself.”
“For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity.”
Closing her post out with a bit of humour, Adele noted that her next record (presumably-titled 30) will be nothing like that her fans would expect in light of recent events.
“Bunch of fucking savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you,” she wrote. “Chin up eh.”
While some reports have said that Adele’s new record will be released at the end of the year, it remains to be seen whether she will support the new album with any live shows.
Having announced her disillusionment with touring back in 2017, the singer sadly cancelled her final Wembley Stadium gigs soon after, leading to fans wondering if they had seen the last of the musical icon on the live stage.
