Rap God Eminem has challenged American comedian Chris D’Elia to a rap battle, following the latter’s impersonation of the hip-hop icon.

Ever since Eminem first hit the scene back in the ’90s, countless rappers have tried to copy his image, flow, and lyrical prowess. As a result, he’s become ripe for parody at times, despite drawing some of the biggest crowds imaginable at his live shows.

Back in September though, comedian Chris D’Elia attempted his own impression of Eminem, copying his gruff voice and vocal delivery so well that his efforts managed to go viral.

After releasing a follow-up video back in February, Em couldn’t help but respond, noting that “This is INCREDIBLE!!!” and adding “4 a second I actually thought it WAS me!!”

Despite the initial parody even spawning a meme about Eminem using too many napkins, it resonated with the rapper enough for it to be sampled in Logic’s new track ‘Homicide’, on which Em features as a rather impressive special guest.

Speaking to Billboard, Chris D’Elia described featuring on the track as a “huge honour”.

“My manager called me five or six days ago and said, ‘Listen, you know the rapper Logic?’ I was like, ‘Yeah I do,'” D’elia explained.

“And he said, ‘Well Eminem has a new song coming out with him, and Eminem put you on the song, and they want to know if it’s okay?’ And I was like, ‘Are you fucking kidding me?'”

“And I was like, ‘Nah, don’t do that, just give it to ’em, it’s fine,” D’Elia continued. “I don’t care, man. It’s a huge honor. I have money coming in other ways. I don’t need that.”

Now, it looks like this has opened the doors for a strong friendship between the pair, with Eminem now challenging Chris D’Elia to a rap battle.

Sharing a Twitter video that previewed ‘Homicide’, Eminem captioned his post by noting that “Me and Chris D’Elia are gonna battle one day.”

D’Elia soon shared his own response, noting that he was not only “born ready”, but had seemingly loaded his car up with napkins in preparation.

In related news, Justin Bieber recently hit out at Eminem, noting that the hip-hop icon “doesn’t understand” the current generation of artists he criticised on 2018’s Kamikaze.

“I just like Em’s flow but don’t like that he’s dissing new rappers,” Bieber wrote. “I like the new generation of rap, he just doesn’t understand it.”
