Bob Evans looks set to vacate the music scene for a while, but he won’t be going anywhere without one more Australian tour.

For close to 25 years, Jebediah has been one of the finest Australian bands on the local scene, pumping out countless iconic hits, festival anthems, and staples of the Hottest 100.

For most of this time though, the group’s frontman, Kevin Mitchell, has been moonlighting as Bob Evans, the predominantly-acoustic solo project that has seen release a handful of albums, and sell out shows across the country.

Now, following a year of constant touring and the release of his Full Circle greatest hits album, Bob Evans has announced his decision to “disappear for a while.”

Noting his pleasure at playing music solo, in a band, and “celebrating something that started 16 years and 5 studio albums ago back in a little suburban sun room in 2003,” Bob Evans noted in a statement that he’ll be taking a break for a little bit.

“It has been important to me to wrap up the past, reflect a little, enjoy it and then move forward on to something new,” he explained. “But now I feel like it is time for me to disappear for a while.”

Before he disappears though, Bob Evans is set to kick off his Into The Night Tour, which will see him play ten shows around the country between August and September.

“There will be more music, I can assure you of that,” he added. “I am always writing and I am looking forward to road testing some new material over the course of this run of shows.”

“However, after this little rendezvous I shall, like the shadowy man of mystery I am, be disappearing ‘in to the night’ and you won’t be seeing or hearing from me again until I have something brand new and super exciting to offer.”

Noting he will be “playing songs old and new and taking requests,” this tour looks set to be a perfect opportunity for old fans to come out and see one of Australia’s musical icons live on stage, and for new fans to finally see what all the constant praise is all about.

Tickets to these shows are available now from Bob Evans’ website, so don’t miss out on seeing the critically-acclaimed musician onstage before he “disappears for a while.”
