Netflix’s Mötley Crüe documentary The Dirt, roused a polarising review from viewers. Whilst some praised the film for encapsulating that era of rock history, others, like Courtney Love, weren’t so impressed.
In a recent feature with Interview magazine, Love offered her brutal take on The Dirt, professing it to be the “dumbest Netflix film ever.”
“It’s so stupid and vile about women, and just fucking dumb,” she added. Love explained that she watched the film with three girlfriends, who also doubled as film critics. “It was super fun to groan together,” she continued. “We had jasmine tea. We all got our bodies worked on and watched this white rapper named Machine Gun Kelly, and we just made jokes. I was like, ‘When’s Ozzy gonna snort the ant?’ Then, within seconds, he snorted the ant. Then the Nikki Sixx character was like, ‘I have a new girlfriend. She’s sweet. She’s wonderful.’ I was like, ‘And her name is heroin.’ Two seconds later: ‘Her name is heroin.’ I was killing it.”
Naturally, Tommy Lee didn’t respond too kindly to Love hurling criticism at the film, taking to Twitter to retaliate. “Hey @Courtney When’s your movie coming out? Oh wait…. Never!!!!!” he wrote.

In related news, Courtney Love recently put fashion house Vetements on blast for ripping off a shirt famously worn by Kurt Cobain. The shirt directly referenced the “corporate magazines still suck” tee that Cobain wore on Rolling Stone‘s 1992 Nirvana cover.
“You guys WHAT the FUCK?” Love wrote on an Instagram post. “I hate being put in this position. You should know better!”
Love was also embroiled in a lawsuit against Marc Jacobs after the brand featured a shirt with a reworked image of the classic Nirvana logo as part of their ‘Bootleg Redux Grunge’ collection.
