Reformed ’90s pop icons the Spice Girls have announced that at long last they will finally bring their live shown down to Australia.

Do you remember the last time the Spice Girls toured Australia? If your answer was anything but a staunch “no”, then you might be shocked to learn that one of the world’s most successful musical groups has never actually toured our fine country.

Sure, they might have highly-charted with their 1996 debut, Spice, and singles like ‘Wannabe’ and ‘Stop’ were undeniable hits, but sadly, the group never made their way down under.

While all hopes appeared to have been dashed following their break-up in 2000, their reunions in 2007 and 2012 once again left Aussie fans feeling pretty disappointed. Now though, it seems we’re finally about to spice up our lives in 2020.

Performing the final date of their UK reunion tour in London’s Wembley Stadium overnight, Mel B (aka Scary Spice) thanked each and every one of the group’s fans for their support before noting that “we’ll see you in February in Australia!”

Of course, this undoubtedly sent fans into excitement overdrive, having wondered if this tour would finally be the chance we’d get to see the group on our shores.

It’s worth pointing out though that official tour dates are yet to be announced by any promoters, but considering this news came right from the group themselves, things are undoubtedly looking pretty good for fans.

However, if you’ve been hoping to see the original group in action, you will of course be devastated to be reminded that Victoria Beckham has been sitting this tour out, choosing instead to work on her fashion business.

In related news though, Geri Halliwell (aka Ginger Spice) used the group’s final show of the tour to apologise for leaving the Spice Girls at the height of their fame back in 1998.

“I need to say something I should have said a long time ago,” she explained to fans (via the BBC). “I’m sorry. I’m sorry I left. I was just being a brat. It is so good to be back with the girls that I love.”

While official dates are still yet to be announced, could this mean that further countries are set to take part in the long-awaited Spice World reunion tour? Only time will tell, at this stage.
