The Beastie Boys have celebrated the 15th anniversary of their sixth album, releasing an expanded edition of 2004’s To The 5 Boroughs.

Back in 2004, it had been a few years since the release of a Beastie Boys record. Following 1998’s Hello Nasty, the group toured relentlessly before deciding to take some well-deserved time off.

While the group issued their The Sounds Of Science compilation in 1999, Mike D recorded his now-infamous Country Mike’s Greatest Hits album, while Ad-Rock focused on his BS 2000 side project.

Following the 9/11 attacks though, the Beastie Boys increased their public appearances, coming out to support their fellow New Yorkers, and even releasing the anti-war track ‘In A World Gone Mad’.

In June of 2004 though, the group finally unveiled the fruits of their labours from the last few years, revealing their long-awaited sixth album, To The 5 Boroughs. Now, 15 years later, the Beastie Boys have released an expanded edition of the record.

“Hello everybody – To The 5 Boroughs came out 15 years ago today,” the Beastie Boys wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “For the occasion, twelve rare tracks have just been released digitally in addition to the original 15 songs on the album.”

Staying true to their word, the group shared a link to Spotify and Apple Music versions of To The 5 Boroughs which feature an additional 12 tracks. In addition to killer joints like ‘Ch-Ch-Check It Out’, ‘Triple Trouble’, and the patriotic ‘An Open Letter To NYC’, listeners are treated to a vast array of remixes and non-album tracks that you might have missed the first time around.

If you’re feeling a bit spoilt for choice though, we do have to recommend the inclusion of ‘Rizzle Rizzle Nizzle Nizzle’, a remix to ‘Right Right Now Now’ that featured on the Japanese edition of the single.

Aussie fans might remember this one featuring on the 2005 Big Day Out compilation when the group visited for their penultimate tour of the country, and it still stands up as one of their most underrated remixes, even 15 years later.
