Grammy Award-winning musician Kacey Musgraves has just dished up a serve of the psychedelic, covering The Flaming Lips during her recent festival set at Bonnaroo.

Over the weekend, American music fans were undoubtedly focusing on all the happenings at the annual Bonnaroo festival held over in Tennessee.

With a bill that boasted the likes of Childish Gambino, Phish, Post Malone, Solange, Courtney Barnett, and much more, punters were undoubtedly spoilt for choice.

However, many at the festival would have turned their attention onto country’s golden girl, the Grammy Award-winning Kacey Musgraves, whose Saturday night spot was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated.

With a set that borrowed heavily from her Album of the Year, Golden Hour, Musgraves decided to bring out a bit of a treat for her fans, covering a song from longtime Bonnaroo performers The Flaming Lips.

Serving up the track as the penultimate song of her set, Kacey Musgraves dropped into a stunning cover of The Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realize??’, a song that we once said should’ve made the Hottest 100, and was once the official rock song of their home state of Oklahoma.

Undoubtedly a popular choice of song to cover, Kacey Musgraves’ fans clearly appreciated the performance, taking the opportunity to belt out those classic lyrics of hope and existentialism alongside the stunning artist.

In related news, The Flaming Lips are set to make their return to Australia later this year when they perform The Soft Bulletin in full as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations. Check out all the dates below.
