Paul McCartney has teamed up with none other than Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler to serve up a performance of one of The Beatles’ heaviest songs.

Back in 1968, The Beatles dropped their iconic self-titled record that fans soon dubbed The White Album. Featuring a myriad of musical styles, the record also featured the now-iconic ‘Helter Skelter’, a track deemed influential in the creation of heavy metal.

Over the ensuing decades, numerous acts have covered the classic, including Oasis, Mötley Crüe, and U2. However, one of the most notable artists to take on the track is Aerosmith, having covered the tune countless times live, and even recording a studio version in 1975 which was eventually released in 1975.

This weekend though, Aerosmith and The Beatles collided in a rather special way, with Steven Tyler joining Paul McCartney onstage for a special rendition of the track.

When Paul McCartney dropped into Las Vegas on Friday night, it turned out that Aerosmith were set to be performing in the same city just one night later.

Sensing the opportunity for a mesmerising collaboration, McCartney called upon Tyler to join him during the encore of his massive 38-song set to help perform vocals on the iconic track.

“We have a special guest for you: Mr. Steven Tyler,” McCartney announced to the crowd, before the Aerosmith rocker appeared onstage, kicking off the track and trading off lines with The Beatles legend as the tune continued.

In related news, Aerosmith became a part of musical history earlier this year, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“We have been waiting a long time to honor Aerosmith with their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez. “Aerosmith is one the greatest rock bands in the world and we expect many fans will be ‘Crazy’ excited to see them honored.”

“The only things I knew to expect from being in a band and making it were girls, money and fame,” bassist Tom Hamilton explained to Variety. “Oh, and being on American Bandstand.

“I never expected videos, digital recordings, playing in Russia or having a roller coaster at Disney World — never mind a star on Hollywood Blvd.”
