Blink-182 have just delivered another fresh tune, this time unleashing ‘Happy Days’ on the 182nd day of the year.

For a while now, fans have been wondering when we’ll be receiving the brand new album from Blink-182. While word of it arriving before the end of June turned out to be false, Mark Hoppus recently confessed there was no release date set, but promised it was still on the way.

“It is coming out this summer,” Hoppus assured us. “I was just on the phone earlier today with Ron Perry, who’s the head of our label, and we are figuring out the exact launch date.”

“But we are finalising mixes right now, we have about half the album mastered, and the announce on when the album will be released will be forthcoming.”

However, in the absence of a new record, Blink-182 celebrated the 182nd day of the year by launch a brand new single yesterday, with ‘Happy Days’ seeing its official release.

Speaking about the new track, Mark Hoppus revealed to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe that the tune was borne out of a search for catharsis

“‘Happy Days’ is a song that we got in the studio and we had this idea and kind of built it out with our friends, Tim and Sam Hollander,” Hoppus revealed.

“It’s about coming from a place of frustration and anger and saying, ‘Fuck it,’ and just saying, ‘I want to go to better times. I want to be in a better place and I’m going to leave all this nonsense behind and find my zone.’

“That was done in [drummer] Mr. Travis Barker’s lab.”

While the group recently debuted a new version of one of their classic tracks with Lil Wayne, Mark Hoppus also revealed that the band have been collaborating in the studio with some big names, including Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, and rapper Lil Uzi Vert.

“I came in to sing the end of this song, and Travis came into play drums,” Hoppus recalled. “And Pharrell was like, ‘Well, what about this idea?’…I was like, ‘Hmm, I don’t really know if that’s the right fit.’

“And Travis was like, ‘Well, why don’t we just jump in and try and see what happens.’ So Travis plays drums on it. Sounds cool.”

“We’re at Conway Studios, one of my favourite studios here in L.A… it’s just like Chad, and me, and Pharrell… And so I write these lyrics, I get in the booth and I sing it real quick.”

While Mark Hoppus also revealed that Lil Uzi Vert had been in the studio, he noted that the rapper heard the new Blink-182 track and reportedly “loved it so much” that he asked if he could perform on it.

While there’s no word as to when we’re set to hear the new album – which may or may not be titled Bojmir (say it backwards) – fans are eagerly eating up every piece of new music we receive from the group.
