Alex Lloyd is set to hit the road this year, announcing a run of national tour dates to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Black The Sun.

Back in 2001, it was impossible to escape the music of Alex Lloyd. With tracks like ‘Amazing’ setting him up as one of the finest Aussie songwriters out there, and winning an APRA Award for ‘Song Of The Year’, it felt like the young muso was the future of the Aussie music scene.

However, this would have been old news for his dedicated fans, with Lloyd having taken the world by storm with his debut album, Black The Sun, just two years earlier.

Released on July 5th, 1999, Black The Sunday, hit #9 on the ARIA charts, and spawned a number of singles, including its title track (which featured Rose Byrne in its clip), ‘Something Special’, and ‘Lucky Star’ – the latter of which gave Lloyd his first-ever placing in the Hottest 100.

Now, two decades on, Alex Lloyd is set to celebrate the record’s anniversary with a massive national tour.

Kicking things off in Western Australia in mid-October, Alex Lloyd will be hitting up South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, the ACT, and New South Wales as he brings this classic album to his dedicated fans, 20 years on.

“It’s hard to believe its been 20 years!” Lloyd says of the anniversary. “A lot has happened in that time, however this album still resonates with me maybe even more so now.

That’s why I am super excited to announce I am getting the band back together to head out on the road again to celebrate Black The Sunday, on its 20th anniversary. Full band shows, all the bells and whistles, relive my 20s… hell yes!”

Joining Alex Lloyd on this tour will be Canadian multi-instrumentalist young brothers, Mickaël and Raphaël Fortin collectively known as Hey Major, who will be ensuring their unique sound is heard and loved by a brand new nation of music-lovers.

Of course, the good news doesn’t end there, with a special 20th anniversary edition of Black The Sunday, also set for release, which will include a special bunch of bonus tracks recorded for triple j’s Live At The Wireless back in the day.

Tickets to this massive tour go on sale from 9am on Wednesday, July 10th, so make sure you get in early for what is bound to be one of the biggest and most joyous trips down memory lane all year.
