Snoop Dogg has just given us an insight into the limits of his memory, unwittingly sharing a doctored photo of himself with Kurt Cobain after seemingly believing it to be real.

Look, we’ve all had those moments when fact and fiction tend to blend together. Maybe you thought that conversation you had in a dream was real? Or maybe you’ve recalled stories with people, only for them to tell you they weren’t involved whatsoever?

As it turns out, that’s a little bit like what happened to Snoop Dogg recently, who found himself caught out by a doctored photo.

Taking to Instagram late last week, the 47-year-old shared an image of what appears to be himself and a young Kurt Cobain smoking together. “Young dogg with. Kurt”, Snoop wrote as a caption, dating the picture back to 1992.

Soon enough, the picture seemed to gain some rather shocked and amazed reactions from people, including the likes of Busta Rhymes who wrote “this shit is incredible” in the comment section about four times.

Even Tyrese Gibson chimed in with some words of support, noting that “We already know you’re legendary you just took it up a few levels!!”

There’s just one issue though: that photo is completely fake.

While the photo of Snoop Dogg is indeed genuine, users soon took to social media to point out that the original version of the picture featured an empty bed to his side. Likewise, the original photo of Kurt Cobain was also tracked down, revealing the Nirvana frontman to be sitting alone and nowhere near the proximity of any famous rappers.

At this stage, Snoop Dogg has left the doctored photo on his social media account and hasn’t responded to anyone calling it out, so it’s not clear if he posted it as a joke, or if he actually did believe it to be a real photo taken in the early ’90s.

Whatever the case though, considering how many famous people Snoop would have interacted with over the years, we certainly can’t blame him for getting himself mixed up with a fraudulent photo online.
