Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter King Princess has announced that her album Cheap Queen is coming sometime around October.
By now you’ve surely heard ‘Cheap Queen’ pulsating on your radio with delicate sincerity, or have shed a few tears to the inescapably emotional ‘1930’.
Well, the good news is that King Princess is bringing her unique edge and queer aesthetics to her very first album, which has been aptly titled the same as the lead single, Cheap Queen.
Watch the campy video for ‘Cheap Queen’ below:
King Princess’ debut album, Cheap Queen, will release this spring on Mark Ronson’s Zelig Records. The announcement was made with the release of the records latest single, ‘Prophet.’
‘Prophet’ is a dedicated slow-burner that plays true to King Princess’ strengths. Her voice that we’ve come to love since her debut 2018 EP Make My Bed sings over sparse beats and rolling drums in typical seductive fashion.
“I can only think about you, and what it’s like to walk around you, and why they like to talk about you, ’cause I can only think about you,” she sings on the chorus.
Love, lust, and longing are no stranger themes for King Princess, who has honed her craft into a well-sharpened spear, coming for our hearts.
The artist was recently featured on Mark Ronson’s latest full-length effort, Late Night Feelings, on the song ‘Pieces of Us’, which delicately dances around with hard-hitting lyrics, exploding in an addictive flurry of bass halfway through.

King Princess is set to be performing an October array of shows across America, with no dates for Australia as of yet.
It is assumed that before her tour kicks off, the album will be out so that fans have time to learn all the words to their new favourite songs.
Regardless of when the album comes, we can’t wait, and we have our tissues ready.
