Northlane’s forthcoming fifth album, Alien, has caused so much anticipation, its begun to block out the sun as we approach its Friday, August 2nd release date.
Not content with the utter chaos they’ve caused already, the band has today released another track from the album, ‘Eclipse’.
To bring home the new single, the band have also announced a very special, very close quarters and very free album launch show going down in Melbourne on release day.
It’s been well-documented that the album is a devastatingly honest dissection of vocalist Marcus Bridge’s traumatic childhood, with added texture from other experiences the band has faced throughout its tenure. ‘Eclipse’ is another step in this direction, showcasing a new chapter in this narrative.
‘Eclipse’ is an attempt to understand the reasons and motivations behind the things my father did,” says Bridge of the track’s message.
“When everything else in his life went wrong, he took it out on my sister and I. It’s easy to say that he was just a bad father but it was a bit more complicated than that.
“Despite trying to see it through his eyes, I’ve promised myself that I will never turn out like him, as a father, a husband or a man.”
Already from the album we’ve heard ‘Vultures‘, ‘Talking Heads‘, and ‘Bloodline’, all of which have dominated headphones and airwaves not just locally, but abroad too ,where the band is making considerable waves.
Northlane just returned from a huge run of dates in Japan, with more plans to peddle their wares on the international stage later in the year.
The band have already announced a run of headline Australian tour dates in support of the album, bringing with them the who’s who of heavy music in 2019. Aussie fans will get a bit of special treatment upon release day.
