There’s still quite a few weeks between now and the official release date of Alien, the new album from Northlane, but already you can feel the ground rumbling.

Today, the band have sent chills down the spine of all those who consider themselves to be their peers with the release of album track, the eagerly awaited ‘Talking Heads’.

It’s well documented that Alien, set for release on Friday, August 2nd, is a detailed and devastating recount of vocalist Marcus Bridge’s upbringing. ‘Talking Heads’ sees another chapter of this explored, with Bridge expanding on the story behind the latest single:

“We started working on this song pretty early in the process and I think writing it actually started to erase a lot of that insecurity, helping me open up a lot more for the rest of Alien.”

But the track isn’t self-serving. Bridge goes onto explain that through his personal story, others can find hope that they will make it through theirs.

“I think it’s important to know that there are a lot of people who feel the same way. I hope with this song and the issues talked about on rest of the album, that people will start to feel comfortable opening up about their past, turning it from a weakness to a strength in the process”

The track itself is another experimental effort from the band who are leaving no quadrant of their sonic universe uncharted for Alien. Already we’ve heard ‘Bloodlines’ which came hand in hand with a gut-wrenchingly personal video counterpart.

Tha ‘Lane will be bringing Alien to a venue near you later this year. If you haven’t got your ticket yet you may want to get your affairs in order as the run has ‘Sold Out’ written all over it. Well, not right now. But soon.
