American experimental hip hop group Clipping (stylised as clipping.) is returning to bring back the weird and energetic this year, after dropping a new teaser video on Twitter featuring a piano on fire.

clipping.’s music can only really be described as a piano on fire, which makes it only fitting that they should be teasing their next album with exactly that, a piano on fire.

The experimental American hip hop group from Los Angeles, California consists of rapper and Hamilton star Daveed Diggs, and producers William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes, forming a trio that has been impressing ears with Avant rap tracks since midcity in 2014.

Check out the literal piano on fire teaser clip below:

clipping. really burst onto the scene with their album CLPPNG in 2014, which features some of their most garish and sensational tracks released, including the ever so popular ‘Work Work’. However, we haven’t had a full studio album release from the group since 2016, and we’ve been practically starving for something new to rattle our brains.

The video was also posted on YouTube with the title “2019”, which can really only be speculated as hinting towards new music this year.

If you’ve never heard of clipping. before then there really is no hope for you to have someone describe them to you accurately, the only way to understand is by hearing their music. Songs sample alarm clocks, power drills, and every kind of noise you can imagine. There’s really no group that can be compared to them, they’re in a class of their own.

We really can’t wait for clipping. to make noise in 2019, and we’ll be hear with fear in our hearts, pianos on fire and spare headphones ready just in case our old ones explode or something. Stay tuned for more news to be coming out over the next couple of weeks.
