Slipknot has carved out a career on a backbone of monolithic live performance, but the band might be plotting to downsize their immense live show to a more intimate affair.
In a recent feature with NME, Shawn “Clown” Crahan has revealed that the band have pondered the idea of playing small at some point in the future.
“We love getting back to Europe because it’s arenas, a little more intimate,” Clown shared of the band’s forthcoming UK shows.
When the validity of labelling arena shows “intimate”, was brought into play, Clown explained: “That is strange, huh! I only said it that way because I’m always trying to get down to a 1500-seater to where we can have some of that love. Oh my god, I would love it – we would love it.
“And we will do it, but it’s got to be right and safe.”

We’re not sure any 1,500 cap venue could handle the sheer intensity of a live Slipknot show. After all, frontman Corey Taylor was recently forced to stop a show in San Bernardino as the mosh pit reached an uncontrollable level of chaotic.
During the show, Taylor was forced to beckon the crowd to step back, as fans at the front of the pit were getting crushed. Footage emerged of the incident, where Taylor is seen commanding the crowd to “Back the fuck up! No one is fucking getting hurt on my fucking watch,” before launching into ‘Get This’.
Slipknot released their highly anticipated fifth record, We Are Not Your Kind, last Friday. The band will be hitting Australian shores later this year in support of Metallica’s WorldWired tour. Check out the dates and ticket information below.
