To get engaged in the presence of Florence Welch, is to get engaged in the presence of God. At a Florence and the Machine concert in Edinburgh earlier this week, two fans were invited onstage for the holiest of all unions.

On Thursday evening, Florence and the Machine descended the stage for a sold-out Edinburgh Summer Sessions performance. During the set, Welch invited a couple on stage to help them with what is probably history’s most romantic proposal of all time. The two women alighted the stage, and Welch asked them for their names — Steph and Jenny.

Welch, who was in cahoots with Steph, proclaimed that there was a Scottish flag that “had a very special request, and I’m fulfilling this request. Steph has something she would like to ask you.”

Then, a proposal that looked as if it was ganked directly from a production of A Midsummer Nights Dream took place. Thankfully the event was captured and shared to Twitter. You can check out the footage below.
