Ed Sheeran is reportedly set to take a little bit of time off, announcing an extended hiatus as he wrapped up his record-breaking world tour.

Ever since March of 2017, Ed Sheeran has been hard at work, travelling all over the world as he toured n support of his third album, ÷ (Divide).

Earlier this month, this tour became the highest-grossing of all time, beating out the likes of U2 as it was announced his two-year stint had grossed more than $736,700,000 along the way.

Needless to say, with cash in the bank, and the release of his No.6 Collaborations Project album last month, the future is looking pretty busy for ol’ Ed, right? Well, not exactly, with the musician revealing he’ll be putting his feet up for a little bit.

Wrapping up his world tour in Ipswich, England on Monday night, Sheeran explained to his followers (via The Sun), that he would be taking some time off to spend time with his new wife Cherry Seaborn.

“As you may or not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing,” the 28-year-old revealed.

“It’s been an emotional day for a lot of people backstage. It kind of feels like, in a weird way, that you’re breaking up with a girlfriend that you’ve been with for years.”

“There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months.”

While fans of both Ed Sheeran and pop music are likely feeling a bit heartbroken right now (especially given the recent announcement of BTS’ hiatus, too), they can rest assured knowing it won’t be too long before the chart-topping musician kicks off his 30s with a long-awaited return.
