During Foo Fighters seventh headlining performance at Reading Festival, the band took a moment to call for a public petition to reunite legendary Britpop rockers Oasis. “One of these days we’ll get Oasis back. One of these days,” stated Taylor Hawkins, who had decorated his bass drum with a photo of Noel and Liam Gallagher.

“We’re trying,” frontman Dave Grohl joined in. “We’re trying. Let’s sign a petition. Everyone here, okay?” Hawkins added. Grohl then asked the audience, “How many people wanna see Oasis fucking play a show?”

Noel Gallagher responded to the calls of a reunion in the most Gallagher way imaginable. During his own gig in San Diego last night, Gallagher called for a counter-petition to get the Foo Fighters to split up.

“Any Oasis fans in the house? Fuckin’ love that shit,” he shared with the audience. “Is anyone gonna sign the petition Dave Grohl wants to get together to get us back together? I’d like to start a petition to get the Foo Fighters to split up. If that would be at all possible.”

Earlier this week, Noel Gallagher revealed that the prospect of an Oasis musical is “inevitable.”

“The musical! People have been on to me about that for the last ten years. And funnily enough, Live Forever is always the title,” Noel shared with The Sun.

Noel revealed that he was discussing the potential project with an ‘English guy who works on Broadway who knows about these things’.

Noel continued: “And he was like saying, ‘Your journey from rags to riches’. ‘And I was like, “Do you have to make it so Dickensian? I never wore any rags”. People do love that shit, I know. It’s inevitable it will happen one day. I will go and see it once.”

Whilst brother Liam Gallagher has offered up his own interpretation of how the musical would play out.
