It’s a good day to be an Aussie music fan, with the stunning Garrett Kato returning to share his gorgeous new single, ‘Control’.

If you’ve had your finger on the pulse of Australian music over the years, then the chances are good you’d have heard of the Canadian-born, Aussie-based Garret Kato.

Having quit his job and moved to Australia on a whim to pursue his “musical dreams”, Kato rose to fame as a busker in Byron Bay, performing endlessly and fostering a devoted fanbase in the process.

As the years have kept coming, so has the music, acclaim, and opportunities. Having toured and collaborated with names like Bernard Fanning, Jack Johnson, and Ziggy Alberts, Garret Kato is also known to the international crowd, too, with his track ‘Sweet Jane’ spending a few weeks in the charts after being featured on the movie Bad Moms.

Now, having released his Distant Land EP back in June, Kato is gearing up to share a much bigger project in 2020, offering up the first single, ‘Control’, today.

An upbeat, breezy track bolstered by his hazy vocals, deft guitarwork, and powerfully catchy delivery, ‘Control’ has all the hallmarks of being a summer anthem, and it’s only spring.

“The inspiration for ‘Control’ was the basic idea of letting go,” Kato explains of the tune. “So many times in my life I would question why things occur the way they do.

“Some find comfort in God’s while others find safety in a salary with benefits. I’m learning to be comfortable with the simple idea we can’t control our own existence. The unknown is scary, but can often unveil the deeper meanings of life.”

Easily one of the slickest and most catchy songs you’ll hear this week, ‘Control’ serves as the first taster of an upcoming body of work which features some seriously big names in Australian music.

‘Control’ is available from Friday, September 6th, but you can give it a listen before anyone else by hitting up Soundcloud below!
