It’s been a long time coming but finally, a musician has found the chutzpah to cover Phantom Planet’s generation-defining anthem ‘California.’ Popularised by the groundbreaking teen show The O.C., ‘California’ soundtracked the golden era of spaghetti strap singlets and skinny scarves. Now, dream-pop wunderkind Japanese Wallpaper has blessed us with the most luscious rendition of the track imaginable.

As noted by my dear friend, the cover “warbles with an oceanic heft.” It’s a masterclass in tasteful harmonies — we reckon that the marriage between Japanese Wallpaper and Gretta Ray’s voice could well and truly bring world peace.

Glow is set to arrive on October 18th. To celebrate the release of the record, he’ll be heading around the country in October and November. Ticket information and dates below.
