Stormzy positioned himself inside the Beyhive during his recent stop at the BBC Live Lounge.

During his set for the popular music series, Stormzy threw down his recent tracks, ‘Sounds of the Skeng’ and ‘Crown’, but it was his choice of cover that’s been lighting fans up. Choosing to head for Beyoncé’s discography, the London Grime artist covered ‘Brown Skin Girl’, from Beyoncé’s Lion King: The Gift record.

Joined for the performance by British vocalist Stalk Ashley and threw in a new verse of his own.

‘Brown Skin Girl’, which originally featured Blue Ivy Carter, Saint Jhn and WizKid, is a key track on the Beyoncé-curated record to coincide with the release of The Lion King.

The album put a spotlight on artists from the African diaspora, featuring Kendrick Lamar, Burna Boy, Tierra Whack, Yemi Alade and Shatta Wale.

For Stormzy, 2019 has been another strong one with the releases of ‘Crown’ and ‘Vossi Bop’ in particular, as the artist continues to ride high as one of the most popular artists of the genre.

Gang Signs & Prayer, released back in 2017, proved to be a defining album for Stormzy, solidified by acclaimed headline sets right around the globe, culminating in a powerhouse set at Glastonbury this year.
