We might see Slipknot out here before the year is out.
Following on from Metallica’s cancellation of their tour of New Zealand and Australia, fans were left doubly disappointed, as it took Slipknot’s Australian return out of the picture.
Not long after Metallica revealed their tour news, Slipknot followed things up, letting fans know that they’re trying to sort their travel details out to make the ‘next steps’ happen.
“We only recently heard the news about the tour being postponed, and we are working as quickly as possible to determine next steps,” the band posted to social media.
“Of course, our thoughts are with James [Hetfield] and Metallica. We wish them nothing but the best.”

Slipknot are currently touring the globe in support of their latest album, We Are Not Your Kind. The prospect of them touring with Metallica was one that had both bands frothing.
“It’s amazing that I can share that kind of stage with a band that I grew up idolizing,” Corey Taylor had told Rock Feed.
“To me, that’s the greatest sense of accomplishment in a lot of ways.”
Metallica were very candid with their statement, acknowledging James Hetfield’s battle with addiction and his need to return to rehab to work on his recovery.
“We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.”
With the Download Festival still to reveal their Australian plans, perhaps Slipknot will appear on stages in this capacity, if a headline run isn’t possible?
