In a conversation that extended almost to the two hour mark, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and Justin Vernon chopped it up and covered everything from music and touring to food culture on the former’s Beats 1 show, Time Crisis.
The two musicians have been globetrotting across the same paths for years, so it makes sense that these two would share some pretty unique experiences.
Going back and forth over a shared love for The Grateful Dead, challenges experienced with on-road life, as well as the time Vernon took LSD with John Mayer, the duo’s conversation is a hefty one for fans to get around.
Discussing the release of 22, A Million, Vernon reflected on the lead up to the release and his approach to promoting the effort from Bon Iver.
Bon Iver – ’33 GOD’
“I seriously could not handle another moment of reflecting upon myself,” he said.
“This time, I said yes to a few more things because, to be honest with you, I recognised that when you don’t do anything and you’re not Beyoncé, it can have real effects on your small business, on your family, on the people around you that this is their job.”
Both artists have enjoyed successful album releases this year; Vampire Weekend with their fourth record Father Of The Bride, and Bon Iver with their fourth album, i,i.
