‘Bomb’ sees Johniepee go international [PREMIERE]

Characterful and quirky are adjectives for Johniepee and his explosive new single.

Having called Australia’s East and West Coast home, ‘Bomb’ sees Johniepee going international, recruiting the attention-grabbing Atlanta MC, Grip. Produced by Jon Reichardt (Bliss n Eso, 360), the song’s almost cartoonish latin trumpet contrasts the heavy trap instrumentation, which combined complement the two technicians’ taut deliveries, unparalleled wordplay, and serious rhyming skills.

Ideal for head-bopping, ‘Bomb’ is a song that will make any menial task all that more bearable, with it’s funky beat and top-tier lyricism bound to spread a smile across your face.

“When this track drops I want it to have a massive impact, hence ‘Bomb’!”, Johniepee said of the song’s title. “This song signifies a level up for me. I’m genuinely happy with [it] and I’m glad it’s the first song on the album; it’s a good little intro, and I hope the fans enjoy it”.

Johniepee happened upon Grip’s Bregma Freestyle’ while listening to Spotify’s Mind Right playlist at the gym. Impressed, he dug deeper into the catalogue of “Atlanta’s Next Great Storyteller” (according to Complex) and was quickly convinced that Grip had the “potential to be one of the greats”.

After the pair got in touch over social media and expressed a “mutual love for each other’s music”, they decided to collaborate.

Since then, Grip has featured on the Madden NFL 20 soundtrack, dropped his sophomore album Snubnose (which features Mick Jenkins), and he’s currently set to perform at countless festivals alongside the likes of Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Travis Scott.

Johniepee’s debut album, Attachment Theory, drops on the 1st of November. He’s going on tour to celebrate, slated to play eight shows across the country in November/December, with two of them in support of Australian hip-hop icons Drapht and Tuka (Thundamentals).
