The enigmatic Solomon Crook has made his highly-anticipated return, delivering the powerfully-soulful single ‘The Day I Thought About Dying’ today.
It was a few years ago now that Solomon Crook made his first impressions on New Zealand audiences, but only one year ago that we got to hear more of his stunning tunes.
Releasing debut single ‘Love Juice’ last year, we received a little bit more of his gorgeous songwriting and powerful voice thanks to his EP Abandon Adolescence.
Before long though, we were treated to even more music thanks to singles like ‘Race Car’ and ‘Rise’, proving that Solomon Crook is one name you need to know as soon as possible.
Now, with EP number two on the way, Solomon Crook has today shared his latest single, ‘The Day I Thought About Dying’, ahead of its official release this Friday.
Produced by Devin Abrams (Pacific Heights, Shapeshifter, Drax Project, The Adults), ‘The Day I Thought About Dying’ is a soulful electronic track bolstered by Solomon Crook’s hypnotic vocals that are just dripping in raw emotion.
Add in some gorgeous acoustic instrumentation and finish it off with some immensely slick production, and you’ve got all the makings for an introspective anthem that resonates for long after it finishes.

“This song explores the uncontrollable feelings of loneliness and isolation that we can all face,” Solomon explains of the song. “I wrote this song in a time when I was feeling separated from people I should have felt closest to.
“I felt this need to escape and break free of this helpless feeling but not knowing how. This song is me internalising these feelings and thoughts, reflecting on them and trying to understand them.”
Having supported the likes of The Teskey Brothers and Amy Shark in the past, Solomon Crook is well and truly an artist on the rise, with a fanbase that will only continue to rise following the release of his second EP in 2020.
