Over the weekend, Marilyn Manson played a seemingly last-minute, mini-set at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival. The one-day event saw some of the finest names in hip hop like Megan Thee Stallion, Young Thug, Pharrell and more join forces. For some reason, shock rocker Manson also decided to take part in the festivities.
There’s no denying that Manson stuck out like a sore thumb sonically. However, there’s something to be said about this generation of rap prodigies breathing new life into the spirit of punk, so it all sort of makes sense. Whatever it is, I fully support it.
It turns out Manson’s set at the festival went down a treat with Scott tragics. However, the crowd certainly have not quite mastered the art of moshing. Footage has emerged of Manson’s performance of Eurythmics’ classic ‘Sweet Dreams’, where punters try their very hardest to mosh along to the track, but ultimately look a bit like stunned mullets flapping around in a barrel. It’s all very sweet, you can check out fan-shot footage below.

Also, whilst you’re already here. We may as well take a moment together to bask in the glory of this photo of Marilyn Manson, Travis Scott and Young Thug. Honestly, at this point Mount Rushmore feels a little dated, we think that they should consider a reno job based off this here image. Hang it in the freaking Louvre.
In other news, Manson recently dropped a cover of traditional folk song, ‘God’s Gonna Cut You Down’. Manson performed the cover live during his 2017 ‘Heaven Upside Down’ tour. He produced the track with Tyler Bates, who he previously collaborated on his past two records, 2015’s The Pale Emperor and 2017’s Heaven Upside Down.
