Los Angeles punk legends the Circle Jerks are the latest act to get in on the 2019 reunion action, announcing a run of dates for 2020.
Back in 1979, a group of Californian musician got together to create some music that was as loud as it was fast. Featuring former Black Flag frontman Keith Morris on vocals, Redd Kross’ Greg Hetson on guitar, Roger Rogerson on bass, and Lucky Lehrer on drums, this quartet quickly found themselves tearing up local stages.
Before long, they’d recorded a number of tracks, with Group Sex serving as their debut album in 1980. A classic of the genre, the band followed this up with Wild In The Streets in 1982, before a few more records saw them close out the ’80s.
Splitting up in 1990 while Hetson went off to rejoin Bad Religion, the group reformed again in 1994, releasing their last studio album to date – Oddities, Abnormalities And Curiosities – in 1995.
While another reunion would take place in 2001, the group this time stuck around for a full decade, playing countless live shows, while attempts to record new material resulted in just one solitary new track.

Now though, the band are set to perform their first live shows since 2011, announcing a run of tour dates for the 40th anniversary of Group Sex recently.

Kicking things off at the Punk Rock Bowling Festival in Las Vegas next May, before joining NOFX’s Punk In Drublic festival for a trio of European dates soon after.
In addition to this, the group are also set to release an anniversary edition of Group Sex, though specific details are yet to be revealed.
Finally, the reunited lineup of the Circle Jerks is set to include founding members Keith Morris and Greg Hetson, while bassist Zander Schloss – who joined in 1984 – will once again take to the stage.
Currently, there’s no word as to who will perform percussion duties, with Kevin Fitzgerald previously holding that position during their last reunion.
