So, a few days ago Billie Eilish made it very clear that she had no idea who Van Halen is, but it seems that this fact is more than okay with the band’s very own Wolfgang who supports her through and through.
No matter how much you may claim to know about Van Halen, there are just some people in the world who have no idea who they even are. Billie Eilish is one of those people, and she made this fact more than evident during a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The clip has since gone viral, and one of the band’s very own, Wolfgang Van Halen, has come out to defend her.
Kimmel was obviously trying to test the 17-year-old pop sensation’s music history knowledge, because he randomly started questioning whether she was familiar with Madonna and other popular artists of that time. After Eilish passed this first round, he asked her to “name a Van Halen.” She stared back in confusion and asked, “Who?”
“I’m gonna start crying,” Kimmel joked.

The internet can be a cruel place — the video has been all over social media, mocking Eilish for her reaction. In reality, no one even knows whether the pop star was being sarcastic or if she was being serious. Regardless, Wolfgang stepped up to the plate on Twitter and defended the young artist.
“If you haven’t heard of Billie Eilish, go check her out. She’s cool. If you haven’t heard of Van Halen, go check them out. They’re cool too,” Wolfgang wrote. “Music is supposed to bring us together, not divide us. Listen to what you want and don’t shame others for not knowing what you like.”
