Kanye West has been tirelessly working away at his brand new opera, and this one is titled ‘Mary’, set to be performed in a powerboat stadium.

The brand new opera by Kanye West is set to be performed in a powerboat stadium, and this one is called ‘Mary’, based off the mother of Jesus presented in The Bible.

This brand new opera comes only a short amount of time after the grandiose occurrence that was his operatic debut, Nebuchadnezzar. Mary is the Christian billionaire’s second opera in a month.

‘Mary’ is scheduled to take place at the Miami Marine Stadium – a location typically used for powerboat races, complete with bleacher seating facing the open water. We can only imagine why Kanye elected for a space with open waters in an opera surrounding the story of Jesus Christ and his mother Mary.

This brand new operatic performance is no doubt purposely close to Christmas. Kanye West announced the show on Twitter that includes a poster for the show. The poster includes a biblical verse, Luke 1:30-31, that tells of an angel visiting Mary to tell her that she is pregnant with Jesus Christ.

Like Nebuchadnezzar, Mary will be co-directed by Vanessa Beercroft and will feature the music of the Sunday Service ensemble. The event also marks the final day of this year’s Art Basel in Miami. Yes, the very same Art Basel which sold a banana taped to a wall for $120,000, only to have it eaten by the filthy rich purchaser.

‘Nebuchadnezzar’ was already an interesting project in a polarising way. There were as many reports of people loving it as as there were of people really not.

While the rapper has only just recently released his gospel album Jesus Is King, it seems his brand new focus is on spreading the good word of the lord through the power of opera. Good for him I guess, spreading his wings into brand new fields. Godspeed Kanye.
