Tony Iommi, guitarist of Black Sabbath, is putting some of his personal items up for auction to benefit Birmingham hospitals affected by COVID-19.
COVID-19 has swept through the world putting a complete standstill to many industries as it continues to spread. The music industry has been slaughtered by the continual cancellation of gigs, the restaurant industry has suffered being limited to take-away only restrictions, but in the midst of it all, hospitals have been the stronghold of hope, with medical staff working around the clock to stop this virus.
During this global pandemic, hospitals are absolutely exhausting themselves. Between not having enough beds for patients, having to reuse PPE to get them through the day, and being completely downtrodden by the sheer amount of people that have contracted the virus, it’s no wonder that they’ve been crying out for help.
Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, being the absolute legend he is, has heard their cry and has announced that he will be auctioning off some of his personal things to financially benefit Birmingham’s Heartlands hospital charity.
Taking to Facebook, the legendary guitarist wrote that he was “about to announce a charity ‘evening with Tony Iommi’ to raise some money for the Birmingham hospitals when this awful virus struck.”
“Now as all charitable events have been cancelled, I wanted to still do something to help,” he continued. “So, I’ve put a few things together of my own up for auction. All the money raised will go to the Birmingham’s Heartlands hospital charity.”
Pleading to his fans, he wrote, “Please! I hope that you can help, they really do need our support! Without these doctors and nurses, what would we do?” Closing with, “we owe them so much!”

With the outfit’s fans already showing some support during this global pandemic, such as quarantined Italians doing the ‘Macarena’ Black Sabbath style, hopefully his plea will be heard as the auction is being hosted for such a good cause.
The full details of the auction are set to release tomorrow.
