It’s certainly well known that legendary Ozzy Osbourne bit the head off of a real bat during a concert in 1982. Now, his son has taken to defending his father, stating: “This is not some giant revenge plot from bats to get my dad back.”
With the current global pandemic still making top headlines around the world, some are attributing the spread of the virus to an incident of bats transferring the illness to humans due to consumption, although research on that is still continuing.
Legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne so famously bit the head off of a real bat during a concert in Des Moines, Iowa on January 20th, 1982, and recently mocked his decision by releasing a commemorative t-shirt, plus a plush toy bat with a detachable head.
Now, his son Jack Osbourne has come out to talk about his father, the decisions he previously made, and how COVID-19 is affecting his mental state.
“He’s a little depressed because he can’t do anything,” Jack told Entertainment Tonight. “And he’s fallen victim to watching the news all day. I’m like, ‘Dude, turn that crap off. [Watch] a little bit in the morning, a little bit at night…”
“Let’s unplug the IV of news right now,” he continued, adding: “Here’s the thing: I am not letting a disease started by bats kill my dad… This is not some giant revenge plot from bats to get my dad back.”
As COVID-19 continues to impact our daily lives, Jack also shared how him and the family have fared as a whole during these confusing times.

“There’s like this looming shadow of impending doom, and like, ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe this is happening.’,” he began. “But then I’m on a really good routine at home. I’m exercising everyday, I’m, like, being one of those [people]. Trying to do good at home.”
In his initial discussion with Entertainment Tonight, Jack detailed the return of reality TV show The Osbourne’s, which we haven’t seen since 2005.
“I think nostalgia is such a huge, hot-button word right now. You look at all these shows coming back from 20 years ago,” Jack noted to Variety. “The only thing, and what I struggle with, is we don’t all live together. One thought I’ve had is, why don’t we all just move in together for two months? It’s 20 years later; we’re all moving back into the house together.”
