On the 8th of May, Motörhead will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their seminal record Ace of Spades. A record that defined a generation of music fans and acted as uniting cultural touchstone for rockers, metalheads, punks, bikers, outcasts and freaks across the globe. To commemorate the occasion, the band have announced a bunch of cool shit to make sure that this milestone is one for the history books.
First order of business, you’ll be able to let your followers know that on May 8th you’ll be channelling the spirit of the Warpig through a unique Facebook and Instagram filter that’ll guarantee you’re the gnarliest motherfucker on the timeline. If you want to to go the extra mile and clad yourself out in Motörhead garb, a limited-edition Road Crew merchandise capsule — with a portion of proceeds going to Live Nation’s Crew Nation Fund, will be available to purchase from their webstore — you’ll look like a don and you’ll sleep like a baby knowing you’re putting money into the pockets of those that have lost work amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The band are set to unveil a brand new lyric video for the albums iconic titular track, set to premiere here. To celebrate the new video we highly recommend you raise a toast to the heavy metal legends by sharing a shot of your favourite tipple with the hashtag #8thofmay. Jack and Coke optional but encouraged.
“We do hope you can join us as part of this celebration of all things Motörhead,” the surviving band members said. “Lockdown may be going on all around us but the world is ours and we were born to raise hell! We look forward to celebrating 40 years of lawn killing, bastard rock’n’roll with you all.”
It’s a perfect opportunity to bond with fellow metalheads during isolation. Long live Motörhead.
