Bossanova re-release Pixies

Back in March, Pixies were forced to cancel their Australian tour midway through the run as the coronavirus pandemic began to ramp up.

“Out of caution for current public health concerns, Pixies are postponing the remaining Australian shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth,” the group explained in a statement at the time. “This was an extremely difficult decision, but the well-being of our fans is always our top priority.

“Rescheduled dates for all of these shows will be announced soon. We ask that our fans retain their tickets as they will be honored on the new dates. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to returning to Australia.”

At the current time, no new dates have been announced, though Live Nation confirmed that they’re working with the band to organise an appearance later this year.

In May, the band shared their support for the Save Our Stages initiative.

Save Our Stages, a campaign run by National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), has lobbied with the US government to support live music venues during the coronavirus pandemic.

The band took to Instagram to share a message of support for the initiative. The post saw the band urge fans to “think of ALL the shows you’ve seen at local music venues. Think of YOUR favorite local music venue. Think of the MEMORIES you have with friends and loved ones, watching your favourite bands and artists at these venues.”
