Canadian four-piece Dizzy have released ‘Roman Candles’, their third single for 2020.
Dizzy have also shared the track’s music video, which was directed by Michael Pugacewicz.
‘Roman Candles’ follows on from previously released singles ‘Sunflower’ and ‘The Magician’. The singles will all appear on Dizzy’s upcoming second album, The Sun And Her Scorch.
The record is the follow-up to the band’s debut album, Baby Teeth, which came out in 2018. The Sun And Her Scorch hits shelves and streaming services on Friday, July 31st.
In a press release, Dizzy’s lead singer, Katie Munshaw, revealed that ‘Roman Candles’ deals with “how insecure I feel being someone who’s pursued music as a job.”
“Some have gone to university and have 9-to-5 jobs already and have to buy funny things like lawnmowers and cutlery,” she said.
“I know that sounds silly, but I have a real fear I’ll never own a home or be able to support a family because of the decision I’ve made, so of course that’s scary.”

“I think I’ve quit the band a dozen times since we started and then wind up taking it back an hour later because I know it’s just fear talking.”
Dizzy recorded the self-produced The Sun And Her Scorch at Mechanicland Studios in Quebec, as well as in Munshaw’s mother’s basement. Craig Silvey, best known for his work with Arcade Fire and Florence and The Machine, mixed the record.
In contrast to Baby Teeth, Munshaw says the band’s second album is “really about self-heartbreak.”
“Baby Teeth was all about the confusion and sadness of my late teens, but this one is more about the qualities about myself that I’m not very proud of,” she said.
I wanted to be completely honest about the things nobody ever wants to admit, like being jealous of your friends or pushing away the people who love you. So instead of being about romantic heartbreak, it’s really about self-heartbreak.”
