Beyoncé is set to release a new full-length album at the end of July, and now the singer-songwriter has shared the trailer for the project, to be called Black Is King.

It follows the release of her new single ‘Black Parade’ on Juneteenth, and now she has dropped the second trailer for the full album which will be released exclusively on Disney+.

The latest Black Is King trailer is choc-full of stars, with appearances from JAY-Z, Kelly Rowland, Naomi Campbell, Tina Knowles-Lawson and more.

As Pitchfork notes, the likes of Pharrell Williams, Lupita Nyong’o will also feature in the film, which has been written, directed, and executive-produced by Beyoncé herself.

The film sees Queen B working with Disney once again, after she voiced the role of adult Nala in their live-action CGI version of The Lion King. It came with a companion album titled The Lion King: The Gift and Black Is King is set to be based on the music from that album.

In terms of the visuals, well the trailer provides a look at what is set to be a spectacular film, with snippets seemingly following the journey of a black child through to adulthood.

Black Is King was filmed across a stack of locations including New York, Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London, and Belgium. It also includes contributions from directors Emmanuel Adjei, Blitz Bazawule, Pierre Debusschere, Ibra Ake, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jake Nava, and Kwasi Fordjou.

The release of the trailer comes just a few days after Beyonce penned an open letter to Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, demanding justice for Breonna Taylor amid the Black Lives Matter movement.

“Don’t let this case fall into the pattern of no action after a terrible tragedy,” she wrote.

“With every death of a Black person at the hands of the police, there are two real tragedies: The death itself, and the inaction and delays that follow it. This is your chance to end that pattern.”
